I wasn’t mean to watch the game of this IPL twenty20 cricket tournament, which is running these days, and live in channel Ten in Australia. Everyone knows that this game is now known as an expensive game of the world now because of sponsorships for the IPL cricket players by different well-known personalities.
Co-incidently I got to see the match and what I saw there was different players from different countries are playing together with other different national and international players being a single team. But what I felt is there is no team spirit, which used to be in one-day cricket, which was played for a country.
I saw Andrew Symonds (Australian cricket player) sitting beside other Indian cricketers and watching the game after getting out. He wasn’t matching there, I don’t know why but it was like he is alone there not a part of the team. May be I am wrong but this is absolutely true that there was a lack of team spirit.
And according to Wasim Akram (former Pakistan captain, batsman, bowler) this twenty20 match will make an effect for one day matches, I think he is true. ofcourse, there will decrease the interest on one dayers because twenty20 is making big shots and good shots in short period of time.
What I felt is cricketers are playing these IPL tournaments only for themselves not for team because they are earning good money for playing in this tournament though they loose of win. Neither there comes a case of national image nor any other. So, the lack of team spirit comes automatically, that’s what I guess.
What do you think about this one? Game without team spirit sounds good to watch? Or it is just good for playing cricket no matter why and for what reasons and with whom?
