The second biggest festival of Nepal starts from today. After Dashain which was celebrated for 15 days, now this festival is celebrated for 5 continuous days which is called Bhai Puja, Tihar or Dipawali. You might get confused because all these 3 names for one festival but it’s the name given by different people for this festival. Altogether it’s the same festival where people worship Goddess Luxmi, Saraswati and God Ganesh specially.
This is a festival of colorful lights and a love of a sister to their brothers. People celebrate this festival with much fun and with positive vibes. It’s really a great festival for me and for all the Nepalese. I am missing my childhood where I used to play Deusi and Bhailo too and use to have fun with safety fireworks.
And according to this festival today is the Kaag Puja, which is called Crow worship day in English. Again you might think that why these Hindu religion people worships crow, right? But let me tell you one thing. This is what we call culture and traditions and till date we are conserving it.
Hindu religion people worships crow because it’s a tradition which is running from many years ago and people are just giving continuity to the culture. It is believed that when there was no communication all these crow and other birds were used for communication sharing and even they are playing a major role to balance the environment from old age to till date’s 21st century.
So, because of these reasons and some other unknown reasons crow are been worshipped in this festival. This is a sign/symbol of respecting animals too. Hindu religion country Nepal and its citizen really knows how to respect animals and how to respect and care their guests and are very much famous for the old traditions and culture in the whole world.
Happy Dipawali too all, May goddess Luxmi fulfill all your wishes.
