Did you know that yesterday the moon was much closer to earth? it was big in shape and even the light was quite stronger than before. It was bigger than the moon at full moon night.

If you didn’t knew or didn’t got chance yesterday to have the same glance, don’t worry, even today it will stay as same as yesterday night. The difference will be not much.

Telescope is prohibited to watch moon this time. So, people are suggested to watch it with naked eyes rather than telescope.

I forgot the actual number but I guess it was 48,000 km closer than before. Sorry if I am wrong, if you know how much closer it was then please make a correction.

Point to be noted: It is 14% bigger than the moon at usual full moon nights of past nights. It is no wonder now why the Chinese are planning to launch their lunar orbiter on Oct 24, 2007 because according to SpaceWeather.com, Oct 25-26th full moon is the biggest full moon of 2007.

Reason behind it: The elliptical path traversed by the moon in its orbit around the earth makes it to appear in different sizes depending on how close or far away it is from the earth. The closer it is, the bigger and brighter it appears.
