Best devices to convert videos, music’s for your iPhones or iPods

I wonder how people do watch movies, music videos and TV shows on their little cellphone, iphone or in ipods screens, but I am sure there are many people doing it! Every time I walk around on the public places, parks bus or in the local airport, I see somebody is watching music videos or movie video clips on his/her video device as if he/she’s super cool, watching videos on his/her new iPhone.

It’s very easy to buy videos designed to view or set on those little device screens, of course, but if you really want to get of your own selected DVDs and Web movies, music onto your own iPod or iPhone, you have to search and try to get the wide world of video converters.

You should know that the most commercial DVDs, Musics, Videos are copyright-protected and it’s a legal violation to break that copyright protection in many countries like its illegal in USA.

Another thing you should know is that iTunes (apple’s software product) itself is a decent converting tool and a best tool till date for me. Simply select a file from your video list of your computer, do right-click it, and select “Convert Selection for iPod” to create an MP4 movie and if you’re dealing with something like Web video or DVDs, then, you will be in need of another conversion tool. In my personal experience, iTunes conversions are slow somehow.

The iPhone or video iPods supports two basic video formats like MPEG-4 (.mp4 and .m4v) and MOV (QuickTime). The real truth is that converting video files means “a matter of managing free codecs and many programs accomplishes the same goal, but I’ve found a few interfaces and functionalities and I like that.

The most user-friendly software tool I’ve found for ripping a DVD’s into an MP4 file for the iPod and iPhone is the Plato DVD to iPod Converter. It’s free software. Simply hit Open, just select your DVD location, and hit OK. You should have an iPod - ready video before you begin it.

Kate’s Video Converter is the next software for converting videos but its slightly confusing one. This software includes everything you need to transform video into MP4/ MOV files but to find the codec you needed you may have to experiment a bit.

Another interesting video converter that I’ve seen recently is CinemaForgeLite, a tool made for grabbing Web movies from other sites like YouTube.com and transforming them easily into iPod-ready video files. A very simple wizard takes you through the process and advanced interface lets you customize the settings like frames sizes and bit rates. It seems to work well on YouTube and major video-sharing websites.

What do you often/frequently use to convert your music’s, videos, movies for your personal iPod or in other portable digital video players? Tell me about it in the comments.
